Culture
To prepare for this Assignment: • Choose some piece of culture—a movie, a TV show, a short story—to review. • Take time to study the piece of culture. So, if it’s a movie, watch the movie, maybe even watch the movie twice. If it’s a short story, read the story, maybe even read the story twice. The assignment: Write a three-page review of your particular piece of culture. Keep the following expectations in mind as you compose this literary analysis essay: • It is up to you how you order the information and opinion in your review, however, your review should include a summary or description of the piece of culture, and then an evaluation of the piece, that is whether you like or dislike the movie/TV show/short story, and why. • Your review should end with you rating the piece of culture. You might choose to use a common rating system (think, stars, for instance) or one you have come up with yourself. • Whatever you decide to include in your review, you should think about its organization, that is, ho best to impact the reader with what you are trying to convey. • Please express yourself in Standard Written English (i.e. correct grammar and few, if any, surface errors in spelling or punctuation). Your essay should be formatted as follows: • Use regular, 10- or 12-point Times New Roman, Arial, or another standard font. • Double-space the text, selecting standard-sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches) with 1-inch margins on all sides. • Leave only one space after periods or other punctuation marks. • Indent the first line of a paragraph one-half inch (five spaces or press Tab once) from the left margin. • Include the following information on the first page of the document: your name, the course number, and your instructor’s name. (Your instructor’s name can be found in the Faculty Information area under Course Home.)
